At first,in the caste system there are only three classes, which is the Kshatriyas the warriors and rulers that are most highly ranked class, followed by the Brahmins as the priests, scholars and teachers and the Vaishyas as the traders, farmers and landowners. At that time there are no rules regarding the behaviour and actions of each member of a class .They could just move from one class to another and marry someone who belong to a different class. Then the fourth class Shudras as formed. It consider indus people. The Aryans who married them and their children.
Later, the Brahmins replace the Kshatriyas as the most highly ranked class since they are only ones who could read holy bookes well. So,now the Brahmins will be the top of the parimid, the Kshatriyas in the second position, the Vaishyas is in the third, theShudras is in the fourth.

The Indian caste system describes the social stratification and social restrictions in the Indian subcontinent, in which social classes are defined by thousands of endogamous hereditary groups, often termed as jatis or castes. Within a jati, there exist exogamous groups known as gotras, the lineage or clan of a person, although in a handful of sub-castes like Shakadvipi, endogamy within a gotra is permitted and alternative mechanisms of restricting endogamy are used (e.g. banning endogamy within a surname)

Although generally identified with Hinduism, the caste system was also observed among followers of other religions in the Indian subcontinent, including some groups of Muslims and Christians. The Indian Constitution has outlawed caste-based discrimination, in keeping with the socialist, secular, democratic principles that founded the nation. Caste barriers have mostly broken down in large cities, though they persist in rural areas of the country. The caste system, in various forms, does continue to play a major role in Indian society and politics, because a majority of people in democratic India belong to the backward castes and politicians vie with each other to promote caste differences. Hence,in a paradoxical way, democracy has perpetuated and strengthened caste identities in India.

The Indian caste system has been in use for many years. Still today the values of the caste system are held strongly. It has kept a sense of order, and peace among the people. There are five different levels of the system: Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra, and Harijans. Within each of these categories are the actual "castes" or jatis within which people are born, marry, and die. They all have their own place among each other and accept that it is the way to keep society from disintegrating to chaos. This system has worked well for Indian people and still has a major role in modern India.

Hi Mr. Syed,
About the system of INDIA. The system is Caste system. In the caste system, there are only three varnas or classes and they are, First, the Kshatriyas[the warriors and rulers]. Next, the brahmins[the priests, scholars and teachers]. Lastly, the vaishyas[traders, farmers and landowners]. At the time when the Caste system is flexible, there were NO RULES regarding towards the behaviour and actions of each member from each class.Later then, the fourth was form- Shudras when individuals could move from one class to another class marry someone that belonged from each class. Then, the Brahmins replace the Kshatriyas since they are only ones who could read holy bookes well and conduct religious ceremonies. So when the Brahmins replace the Kshatriyas, the pyramid looks like, first, brahmins next kshatriyas then vaishyas and lastly shudras. But not shudras is the last is the untouchables or[pariahs]. Mr. Syed, I have to go now. But I remember this Burger King Very Shiok!!!!!!!!!!

There are five different levels of the system: Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra, and Harijans('untouchable'). The caste system in ancient india was important as it helped to bring order to society.Everyone knew the role he had to play in society and the job he had to do.However,it did not allow people , especially those from lower castes, to change jobs even if they were very capable and talented...
