Han Dynasty, Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty as the Golden Age of China because during the Han Dynasty (c.206 BCE-220CE), science and technology made remarkable strides: paper, the compass, and the seismograph were invented so as the steel was manufactured while during the Tang Dynasty (c.618-907 CE) describes a period of peace when Chinese art, trade, and literature prospered and during the Song Dynasty was a tranquil time characterized by philosophical and artistic development, political centralization, and economic growth.

Hi Mr.Syed!

At last i had came to this Website.

I know why the Han, Tang & Song period is known to be the Golden Age of China.

Because it was necessary to get rid of the imperial exams. Too many scholars spent too much time on subjects that could not help the country. When people are starving to death and foreign armies are at the door, the old imperial exams are useless.
Not only the scholars need to know the Chinese Classics, they also need to write the essays in the specific style and had excellent hand writings.

Many of these scholars had no common sense and had no ideas of how to be a good government officials or even useful human beings. Some of them had trouble to understand the meanings in the Chinese Classics because they just need to memorize them.
